Absolutely disgusting attitude from the manager.

Spoken to like we were something on the bottom of her shoe.

Firstly my husbands new argos card was sent to the wrong address even though he updated his argos account to his new address that we moved into 6 years ago. The card was delivered to his mums address that is 100miles away.

We ordered a new samsung s24 phone with the card details his mum sent us via message as we havent had time to drive down and we wanted to get the phone on the 10% discount.

Arrive in store today with ID to be told we couldnt pick the phone without the argos card even though the email states ID or the argos card and my husband had his driving license. We asked to speak to a manager.

She came bursting through the door. No hello how can i help. Just we cant give you the order. She didnt even let us explain constantly talking over us. She was speaking very loudly (almost shouting) and nearly woke up my 12 week old son in the pram. She gave us no alternatives such as extending the time on the order so we can pick it up once we have the card from nottingham just we will cancel the order.
Also she said we only had 7 days since we ordered it to collect but the order took 4 days to be delivered - this was incorrect when we spoke to customer services.

We have managed to get an extentsion on the pick up of the order thanks to the customer service team and we will be sending a written complaint to the head office.

I am absolutley appalled and the managers attitude and it has put me off shopping at argos again. I will be going to their rivals amazon in future.

I thought the whole point of Argos is that’s it’s meant to be a quick and convenient way to order items.

Customer service was appalling, extremely slow. I ordered online, told items were ready to collect. But there were no staff manning the online collection point. Really poor service, defeats the whole point of Argos. I’ll be sticking with Amazon in the future.

*Update*

Over a year later, I had to revisit this Argos. 7:30pm, people lining up to collect their online orders. Waited for over 25 Minutes, slow staff.

I called in the Argos store because I wanted an item I had seen online, to be delivered to my home. I was finding it very hard to pay for the item with gift cards, so, I asked at the St Helens store, if I could order the item in-store and pay for it with my gift cards, The lady who helped me was called Tracy and she was absolutely brilliant in making my transaction so easy she checked in each card and gave me the receipts to sign and my final payment receipt, she also booked my delivery slot, there were 7 cards and cash to pay with. All transactions were very smoothly dealt with. Thank you Tracy and Argos

Staff friendly & helpful. You might want a warm coat & brolly if you are planning to shop here during the pandemic. The second lockdown has closed many shops as they're not considered essential under the government's rules - and that includes Argos.
Shoppers can still go and collect orders at stores though and get items delivered to their homes, which means Christmas shopping can continue.

5 STARS TO ARGOS FOR STANDING ON THE FRONT LINE SO THAT WE CAN ALL STILL HAVE A CHRISTMAS!?

You can pick up online orders at Argos stores but you can't shop inside.

Is Argos open?

Standalone Argos stores in England are now closed except if you're picking up an order which you've made and paid for online.
You won't be able to make a purchase in store or return any items you've purchased previously or online.
And when collecting an online order at the store, you will have to wait outside for the package to be handed to you.
Argos stores in Wales are closed until November 9, while stores in Scotland and Northern Ireland remain open.

What about Argos stores that are located in Sainsbury's shops?

Supermarkets can remain open during the lockdown because they sell essential items, such as food and other important items like loo roll.
Argos shops in Sainsbury's stores are also closed, except if you're picking up an order which you've made and paid for online.
In other words, you can't make a purchase in these Argos stores either.
However, you can return items here, unlike at standalone Argos stores.

How can I return something?

If you don't want to go to an Argos shop in a Sainsbury's store, or you don't live near one, you shouldn't miss out on getting your money back.
Argos has extended its returns policies to help people in lockdown.
For purchases made from October 18 onwards, you have until 24 January 2021 to return the goods.
The usual returns rules apply, for instance, you'll have to have a receipt or proof of purchase.

How do I click and collect at Argos in lockdown?

With click and collect you buy the item online and at the checkout choose the click and collect option.
You can choose where you want to pick up the item, including at Argos, in a Sainsbury's shop where there's an Argos or at a collection point.

You'll get a message telling you when your item is ready to collect which includes an order number and a collection code - keep hold of these as you'll need to show them when collecting your order.

You'll have up to seven days to collect it from your chosen store. If you don't think you'll be able to collect it in time, you can extend it (except for Tu clothes orders).Just go to your account online and look at recent orders.

Spoken to like a pair of scum bags.

Long story short bought a laptop from them on the 6/2/24 spoke to customer service on the 7/2 and was told I could take the laptop into store for a return. Even though I stated it had been opened but was not fit for purpose as expected. She said no problem I’ve spoken to the store and they have confirmed to just bring it in, as it’s within the returns policy.
Get to store only to be spoken to like we was trying to pull a fast one, said no one had any recollection of the phone call (I was lying) and basically sorry we won’t accept the return . Went back to the car called customer services again, they said it’s here on record you spoke to someone who confirmed it with the manager but unfortunately this is now a store issue and there is nothing we can do and basically terminated the call. Went back into store only to head to the tills for a staff member to say “oh is it faulty now?” Very sarcastically and walk off, only to get the manager I had spoken to 10 mins ago. Very dismissive and said we will not accept the return.
I’ve made a formal complaint against the store and Argos. They will not be getting anymore of our business. I used to work in retail and I would never have dreamed of acting like. We are nice people and was made to feel like absolute scum.

Had a larger item delivered. The staff on the van were very helpful and courteous ensuring the item was placed exactly were we wanted.
