Although my letter arrives a little behind schedule, however, it arrives with my most sincere expression of gratitude and appreciation.

I am still pleasantly surprised and amazed at how seamlessly smooth and worry free my purchases have been. Over the years I have bought many cars from Rob and the crew, and something always brings me back. This place is like positive gravity...and that is saying a lot because I live on the far west side of San Antonio, and I still make the greater than 2 hour drive just to come here.

To Ray and Barry: your knowledge, expertise and customer service are second to none. You consistently provide the impeccable professionalism and unquestionable loyalty and the highest level of integrity possible. Loyalty and trust are both earned, not freely given...and that is through deeds not good salesmanship.

I have always felt that any business or customer service oriented organization is built by providing superb and quality customer service, during the sale and more importantly, after...and that only happens one customer at a time.

Lastly, as a recently retired from the military as a more than 22 year veteran, I can tell you that this crew, from the top down, have an affinity and true love for their nations fighting men and women. That extra touch they give, is never expected, but is always appreciated, and makes you feel truly special.

Thank you for all you do, gentlemen, and never change who you are.

I am strongly recommending R&D Motors!! I am somewhat of a used car conoseur and could not be more grateful for Rob and his team at R&D. They were a delight to work with, allowing me to keep a car overnight to have a buyers check performed.

Their selection of vehicles is exquisitely chosen with most only having one owner. Every employee I worked with was very friendly, the owner, Rob being the easiest to speak with. They never pressured me into anything and explained everything patiently and thoroughly.

If you are in the market for a used car, check these guys out. They will make it worth your time!!

Huge thanks to Rosie and all the crew at R&D Motors!!
They went over and above what was required to sell us a quality pre-owned vehicle, going so far as to provide us a loaner car while our vehicle was being prepared for us.
We came to South Lamar all the way from Georgetown and were very pleased and surprised with their selection, price, and service.
Highly recommended, and they will be our first visit when choosing our next pre-owned car.

Rob and the staff at R&D Motors are amazing. I bought a beautiful Mercedes ML350 with an interior that looked brand new. We spent less than an hour working through the paperwork which is a serious perk with kids. I highly recommend you stop by if you need a vehicle. You won't be disappointed.

I recently purchased an older Plymouth Voyager, 1998 from R&D. The carfax showed it to be a one owner vehicle. It was garage kept and very well maintained. It was the mythical little old lady vehicle. It only had 64K miles on it. Everything in it is like brand new. I was a mechanic for years, owning my own shop for several years before going back to college to get my engineering degree. I expressed concern over the age of the vehicle and the lack of miles could mean the seals might be dried up. Mike allowed me to take the vehicle over the weekend for an extended test drive. As I feared there was some oil dripping, brand new oil as they'd changed it. I discussed it with my mechanic and expressed some concern over the leak and the timing belt was due for a change at 60K miles. Just the timing belt would be $650. I took it back on Monday fully expecting to give it back to them. Mike had told me on the phone, we don't sell cars that leak oil. I talked to Rosie when I arrived. She picked up the phone called the owner of R&D and he approved replacing the seal and the timing belt and water pump since it is driven by the timing belt just better to do them at the same time. I received regular calls through the week from Mike and Rosie, with updates. When I got the Voyager back, they had replaced all the seals, crankshaft seal, cam seals, timing belt, water pump, valve cover gaskets and even a fuel line that wasn't leaking, the mechanic just said he didn't like the looks of it. This was a major job, I know, did I mention I was a professional dealership trained mechanic. All for no charge. I've waited a week of driving the vehicle and took it back to my, very trusted, mechanic. He gave it the once over and told me that I'd hit a home run on this one. I couldn't be happier. I was given the VIP treatment through the entire transaction. These are some really great folks. I saw the negative reviews from years ago. I don't know anything about what was going on back then but everyone at R&D was the consummate professional with great people skills and providing a wonderful customer experience.

Although we ended up going with another dealership, it wasn't because of dislike of this place. They were straightforward with their pricing, inventory, and what they honestly thought about the car. Nice cars, friendly service.. Mike over at the "south" location helped us out. I would suggest that guy

I waited about two months to post this review so I could be as calm and reasonable as possible. However as you can see from the pictures, our experience with R & D motors did not end well. Our 24-year-old son was sold a 350 horse power Pontiac GTO, with near bald rear tires. He worked very hard to save up $3000 cash to put down on his car, his entire savings. Eight days later, while driving, and not speeding, but just cruising around a long road corner, the car lost control very easily and completely spun out and hit a concrete barrier. He was driving carefully and did plan to get new tires within a week or so. His pelvis was shattered completely, and he suffered many horrific internal injuries. He was bleeding to death but thankfully only a short ambulance ride to the hospital ER where emergency surgery saved his life. The next day, he also had orthopedic surgery to fix his left hip, so hopefully he could walk again one day. He now has two huge metal rods/screws in his pelvis holding it together. He was in the ICU for a week and total two weeks hospital stay. He still has some terrible life-altering health problems related to the internal injuries and it will be another month or two before he might possibly be able to walk again after extensive Physical therapy rehabilitation. Medical bills thus far are in excess of $250,000, and my son had no health insurance. (He was new at his job and had not yet even have the opportunity to purchase a plan.) He lost his job and has had to come live back at home again so his mother could be his primary care taker through the healing process. He was not driving recklessly. The EMTs had to cut his best new dress suit off of him to quickly assess injuries and begin life-saving medical attention immediately. His life is forever changed. We had to completely change our home to make it wheelchair accessible. It may be legal in the state of Texas to sell a muscle car with bad tires, however, in my opinion it is not ethical and they should be ashamed of their selves for allowing this to happen. In my research, there are many automobile companies in Austin who refuse to sell cars with tires in this bad & dangerous condition, even if it is legal, because of the very possible devastating ramifications and negative outcome to their clients. This is where business owners show their actual character and integrity to their clients. Is money and quick sale & profit more important? Or is helping prevent people from losing their lives just eight days after buying a vehicle more important? In conclusion, my son is extremely lucky to be alive. He may eventually overcome & heal from most of the physical disabilities from this terrible accident. He actually worked for a car dealership, has been a car guy for a long time, and driven many more powerful muscle cars than this car he had just bought. In my opinion however, cars should not be sold that are absolutely immediately unsafe for both the driver and other innocent people on the roads. Thankfully, no one else was hurt in this awful accident except for my son. But it was an tragic accident that didn’t need to happen. It was an accident that could’ve been prevented by better business ethics on the part of our local R & D motors! On top of that, they were negligent with paperwork details & math and actually jipped my son some of the money he should’ve received back from full coverage insurance. SHAME ON YOU R & D Motors! I’m surprised you can sleep at night with those sorts of ethics. Just because something is perhaps legal does not make it right and I know this is a respected & integral local business owner myself. If my son fully and totally recovers it will be a miracle we will be grateful for. We’re very glad he’s alive, and of course none of us will ever ever buy an “as is” used vehicle again. Safety on these busy Austin roads, and all of our lives, is the most important variable in every decision. If only all automotive companies would step up their game more in this regard too!!
