My 17 year old daughter had surgery with Dr. Portela last Wednesday. There are not enough good words to describe the incredible experience. He was attentive, gentle, kind, caring, compassionate and took pride in his work with my girl. She had 3 procedures done. She has had zero bruising and light swelling. He followed up with us to make sure she was doing well. He answered all my questions. The best part for me was when he walked out of the 2 hour procedure giddy with how excited he was at the final product of his work! I could continue and continue on. Run to this doctor. We need more of him!!

El doctor Rafael Portela y su equipo son excelentes, mi niño tuvo su cirugía de adenoides con el doctor Rafael y todo fue excelente, el cambio fue para bien 100%. Lo recomiendo, un trabajo muy profesional y en la consulta te atienden rápido no hay que esperar mucho tiempo.

Everyone here is extremely good with my kids, we have been seeing Dr. Portela for over a year now and he is so gentle and very informative every single time. We as parents were very impressed from the get go and continue to be very thankful for Dr. Portela's skills. Definitely recommend his office.

Today I took my son for his first appointment. I have taken my daughter for three years with no issues. Upon arrival today, the front desk staff tells me my appointment has been cancelled because I didn't reply to a text message they sent yesterday at 1pm and 2pm. I advised them that I was at a work meeting when the texts were sent and by the time I was able to use my phone it was already 4pm and the deadline to reply had expired. The staff had no understanding for this situation nor did they acknowledge the fact that there weren't any phone calls prior to confirm the appointment or that they don't answer any phone calls past 3pm.
They were firm on saying my appointment was cancelled and given away. This made no sense since they take zero calls past 3pm. I asked to please have some compassion considering it took a month and a half to get this appointment and drove an hour and half in Miami traffic with a 3 yr old.
All the employee said was sorry and to please be more attentive to my phone, meaning she and her colleagues never listened to me or cared to show an inch of compassion.
Please beware of this place, the doctor might be good or skilled but his office staff is horrendous.

My experience with Dr. Portela has been beyond excellent. My daughter just had surgery and I cannot think of a better doctor to put my trust in. He addressed all my concerns, but most importantly he took excellent care of my daughter. I had a follow up appointment and his staff was excellent, making sure my child got into a room quickly as she just had surgery. Sussan was excellent and very kind to my daughter. My 4 year old daughter had two appointments with Dr. Antonio Portela. Both appointments were not only quick in wait time but, informative. My daughter & I both asked questions & he replies in a knowledge & kind matter. Him & his staff are great. My daughter had to remove both her tonsils & adenoids 7/21. The process was fast & smooth, she had absolutely no side effects or symptoms. The results were day & night. I’d recommend him & his office to anyone. Thank you!

This past Wednesday I took my son for the first time to see Dr. Portela and I could not be happier. The office is super clean, staff very friendly and Dr Portela was great. Sensible to the parent's needs, good bedside manners and explained everything that he was going to do to my son before he did it. As a mother you expect the Doctor to listen to your concerns and that is what they did. I would recommend this office and Dr. Portela 100 %. Thank you
