I had a total insulation re-do in December 2023 with True-R Value. I was impressed with Quincy's communication and professionalism, detailing steps along the way and answering all my questions. Quincy was able to reduce my ACH50 by 30%, which essentially is a measure of how much air leakage a home has. Summer will be the real test of how my A/C bills change, and I will update my review then with the results.
The process began in August 2023 with a free inspection/estimate. The work would involve gutting my existing attic insulation, doing a proper air seal, sealing my leaky ducts, adding insulated covers from my recessed lights, and installing new bathroom fans and vents. I paid a 50% deposit up front, and paid 50% when the work was done. Most old homes are improperly sealed and insulated, and it is crucial to hire a proper contractor who understands home performance and building science. Just blowing in more insulation will not solve your problems, it starts with properly sealing the building envelope. Additionally, cheap construction can cut corners, as seen with my bathroom fans, which originally vented into the mid-floor & insulation, trapping moisture. It just so happened that I was getting a new roof, so the roofer was able to coordinate with Quincy and install roof vents that would then get connected to new bathroom fans. This kind of work is not cheap, but if you believe that hotter summers/colder winters are to be expected for the future, then I recommend contacting True R-Value sooner rather than later.

This is a16 month follow up. In January 2023 Quincy air sealed and insulated the attic in my 1979 Milburn tract home. In May of 2023 in installed a top-of-the-line Carrier heat pump, just in time for the brutal summer of 2023, 80 days above 100 and 45 days above 105. The Carrier monitors it energy usage so we could track our energy usage. During the hottest days of the summer, keeping the house at 71 degrees, our daily AC costs never exceeded $2.50/day. Now this is a really good heat pump, but without the work done by True-R-Value, this would not have been possible.
During this last winter, our heat pump almost never even kicked on. The final blower door was 3.7 ach 50, which is pretty good for a non-gut rehab. We have also noticed significantly less dust in the house. Looking back would I do it again, ABSOLUTELY!!! There has been a significant reduction in energy use, but the change in overall comfort is maybe more noticeable, but less quantifiable.
I should also note that the ice storm in February 2023 resulted in over 3 days without power. So even after three days with no heat (all electric home) the houses' temperature never dropped below 60.

Quincy and his True R-Value team did an excellent job on the insulation removal, bathroom fan install, attic air sealing, and insulation re-install at our house. Our ACH50 was brought ~to code thanks to their work, and the improvement in internal temperature stability was immediately noticeable. Quincy and his team were very professional throughout the entire job and I would recommend True R-Value to anyone looking for this kind of work done at their house.

Quincy was the most responsive, helpful contractor I have worked with through the stressful process of trying to freshen up an old home we recently purchased. He not only responded immediately when I texted or called, but he listened to the issue and gave me trustworthy, unbiased advice that I didn't experience with other contractors. He even went out of his way on a Saturday to help us create the attic access ultimately needed to perform his work but also the work of another specialty happening before our attic insulation.

Quincy went above and beyond to help ensure everything was properly sealed and insulated. He has been the most helpful contractor that I have worked with in my 2+ year remodel. He is a small business owner, which makes it difficult to be flexible and work around others, but he managed to do it all.
Highly recommend Quincy if you are looking to up your air quality in your home. He also found a dead animal in our attic, which is never fun and helped us remove it in the best way possible. He was thorough and detail oriented notifying us of any issues that he found along the way so that we could address them with our other contractors.
I found out about True R-Value through an Instagram video - Quincy truly cares about the work that he does which is evident in the videos that he creates and the work that he finishes.
THANK YOU for all your help!

After an initial visit from Quincy we discussed various options to improve upon my attic insulation. I was emailed a menu of options I could choose from to fit my budget. They are extremely busy so getting on their calendar took a few weeks.
When the work was scheduled, Quincy and crew did an excellent job of removing my existing insulation, air sealing all attic penetrations and putting back a good amount of blown in insulation to improve my blower door test results by a double digit percentage.
He also put in baffles at the eaves that were missing from the original insulation work. I have two dormers where there is barely even room to turn around in that they also managed to apply the same treatment.
Quincy also went above and beyond to help me fix a mistake in my bath exhaust fan installation - also in this incredibly narrow dormer space.
As others have stated, they are very professional, communicate well, come when they say they will and pay attention to the details. I am very happy with the work that was done and would highly recommend them.

My 1970 home needed more than new insulation. I wanted higher efficiency and better performance, and True-R Value delivered just that. Quincy was able to test and diagnose my home's efficiency. The communication was excellent, and my experience with True-R Value exceed my expectations.
In my case, I had old ductwork replaced by an outside contractor. I'm happy that Quincy was around the attic, because he pointed out things that the contractor installed wrong.
I'm very happy with my decision to work with True-R. My old home feels like new. After doing Insulation 2.0, my new ACH score by was cut in half.

Excellent experience having True R Value do their "Insulation 2.0" (remove, seal, blow) on our house. We have a sort of cut up attic, with lots of tight spots and remodeling over the last 80 years. They took the project on, each step done as they said they would, always great communication, always on time. I had work to do in the attic between their steps and they accommodated that, but I was also able to see the excellent quality of the clean and air-sealing. House is definitely more comfortable. Also props for interacting well with my wife, who was as involved in the project as I was. It's an unfortunate reality that many contractors seem uncomfortable communicating with women, but all good here. Price was right for the quality of the work.
